Freedom to Celebrate Who We Are

The 8 Freedom Festival was born from a simple belief: that the streets of Miami belong to the people who built them. SW 8th Street — Calle Ocho — has always been more than a road. It is the spine of a community, a living archive of Caribbean and South American culture, and a place where the rhythms of the islands and the continent pulse through every block.

We created this festival to give that culture a stage — literally. Five stages across five blocks, each one dedicated to a different expression of who we are: our music, our art, our families, our roots, and our community. The number 8 is not just an address. It is a symbol of infinity — of the unbroken thread that connects us to our ancestors and to each other.

This festival is free. It is open. It belongs to everyone who shows up. Whether you were born in Trinidad, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Cuba, Venezuela, or right here in Miami — you are home on Calle Ocho!

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Cultural Pride

We celebrate Caribbean and South American heritage with honesty, depth, and joy — not as a performance, but as a genuine expression of the cultures that built this street and shaped this city.

Community First

Every decision we make starts with the community. Local vendors, local artists, local voices — the festival is built by and for the people of Miami, from every neighborhood and background.

Radical Welcome

Freedom means everyone belongs here. Black, white, Hispanic, Anglo, Asian, Caribbean, South American — we build spaces where all of Miami feels at home on the same street.

Artistic Excellence

From headlining acts to live muralists, we hold our programming to the highest standard — honoring the traditions that shaped us while making space for what comes next.

Organized by the Community

The 8 Freedom Festival is organized by a coalition of Miami-based community leaders, cultural organizations, and local businesses rooted in the Caribbean and South American communities of SW 8th Street. We are neighbors, artists, parents, and advocates — united by a love for this city and the cultures it carries.
